Evidence Expectant Fathers Get Fat

If your tight pants aren't evidence enough, there's a new poll out of the UK that says 20 percent of expectant fathers gain a stone (approx. 14 pounds):

BBC
A fifth of 5,000 men surveyed said they were given larger meals, and 41% said there were more snacks in the house. The poll, for marketing company Onepoll, also found 25% of men ate more food to make their partner feel better about her weight gain.

How Much Weight Should She Gain

If you find she's not within the new guidelines, talk to her doctor about it. This can be a dangerous conversation to have with a pregnant woman...

Wall Street Journal

Women who are underweight (BMI less than 18.5) should gain 28-40 pounds.

If She Smokes, Your Baby Might Smoke

Research says that if your pregnant partner smokes, your kid might start smoking too. Check this out:

USA Today
Smoking while pregnant "biologically primes" the unborn child to become a regular smoker as a teen and young adult, according to a theory put forth by <kwd href="http://content.usatoday.com/topics/topic/Organizations/Schools/University+of+Arizona"></kwd>University of Arizona researchers >>> <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2009-05-19-smoking-kids_N.htm&qu

Mom on Twitter, having baby: Shares details of birth

I think it would be cool if men shared details of birth via Twitter. It's actually a great way to keep friends and family posted -- assuming you have a free hand and cell phone reception (find out during your hospital tour).

Star-Ledger (New Jersey)
Contractions are five minutes apart, lMAO! In a move that many will call the height of oversharing, pregnant mommy blogger Melissa Skabich of Cedar Grove planned to be on Twitter today, giving updates >>> read entire story</st

Father Get to See Birth of Son Via Webcam

Just in case you can't be there for the delivery:

ZANESVILLE - Amy Trescott went into labor on Thursday, the day she was scheduled for a Cesarean section. Everything in the Bethesda Hospital delivery room was ready for Trescott, including a laptop with a built-in webcam. This new feature allowed her husband, Jeremy, who is stationed in Iraq, to see his newborn son, Bradyn, as soon as Amy did.
